Aragoke

The Aragoke is a distinctive koi variety developed by Toshinobu Ikarashi of Ikarashi Koi Farm, a breeder known for producing koi of impressive size, beauty, and longevity.

In Japanese, Aragoke means "rough scale," a reference to the koi’s most defining feature—large, irregularly placed scales across a Doitsu body. Also known as Ishigaki, this variety offers a unique texture and visual presence that stands apart from more traditional koi patterns.

During our recent visit to several breeders in Japan, we observed a renewed focus on Aragoke development, particularly in improving Ginrin quality, symmetrical scalation and introducing new color combinations. At Oyama Koi Farm, the variety has reached an exciting milestone—an Aragoke koi was awarded Tsubaki Champion 95 Bu at AJKS 2025, showcasing the potential of this line with its well-balanced form and beautifully arranged sparkling scales.

We are pleased to offer a limited selection of Aragoke koi from these exceptional bloodlines, including several striking Kogane Ochiba with refined metallic sheen and vibrant patterns.
